Sad news out of the music world as Scott Weiland and The Wildabouts guitarist Jeremy Brown has died.

The news hit the former Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver singer and his backing band hours before they were slated to perform a record-release show last night. The release show was for the debut album 'Blaster,' which dropped today (March 31).

The singer received the news from Brown's family. Weiland then announced Brown's untimely death via Facebook, excerpt below.

"We received a call today about my friend Jeremy Brown that has shaken me to the core. We were all concerned this afternoon when Jeremy didn’t show up for a long-scheduled rehearsal for tonight’s album release show...... A post on Facebook feels so trite and small compared to the love that I have for him and for the talent that has passed on but I felt it was necessary to at least start here.

The band is slated for several upcoming tour dates, including slots on the World's Loudest Month festival series. Those shows include Welcome to Rockville, Carolina Rebellion and Rocklahoma.

Scott Weiland and The Wildabouts are touring in support in support of 'Blaster.' According to Billboard, Brown and Weiland met in 2008 while the former STP front-man was working on the album Happy in Galoshes.
